GOOGLE L10n A GOOGLE FOR INDIA EVENT

Virtual Event

Google unveiled a new AI-powered language model 'MuRIL' on 17 December 2020 at L10n event. Users can now toggle search results between English and any of the four newly added Indian languages-- Tamil, Telugu, Bangla, and Marathi-- on mobile devices. Also, Google Maps (navigation app of Google) will now support nine Indian languages.

The event, which was spread over 2 days live streaming complete with audience engagement and global presenters, It was hosted by Sanjay Gupta, VP Google India and was attended by many key people from the Google Leadership Team.

The first day consisted of a series of media roundtables each with about 6-8 journalists and a Google spokesperson to communicate effectively. Each speaker made an announcement followed by a 15-20 min Q&A.

The second day was mainly a pre-recorded livestream with 5 speakers from Google. It mainly focused on Google’s pledge to make the internet helpful for every Indian, the importance of their commitment to languages and in ensuring they deliver on their pledge.

Managing a global event with multiple speakers and diverse audiences from different countries posed unique challenges for the host. Multiple physical shoots, pre-recorded shoots in India and abroad (USA) in different formats were done and final edit preparation was done. In-slide integration of all the presenters with full graphics and transitions deployment was also done smoothly.
